How to Create a Dogecoin Wallet in Two Minutes

Step 1 — Generate your recovery phrase

Open the wallet creation page and generate a new 12-word recovery phrase. The words come from the standardized BIP-39 wordlist, and the randomness is produced by your own device — not by any server.

Write the words down on paper in the exact order shown. Do not screenshot them, do not email them to yourself, do not save them in cloud notes. Paper survives phone upgrades and account bans; screenshots do not survive hackers.

Step 2 — Encrypt the wallet with a password

Next you set a password. The wallet derives an AES-256-GCM key from it using PBKDF2 with hundreds of thousands of iterations, and encrypts your seed phrase before storing it in the browser. Without the password, the stored data is useless to anyone.

Choose a password that is long and unique — a passphrase of several random words beats a short “clever” password. Note: this password protects the local copy only. The recovery phrase remains the master key.

Step 3 — Verify and fund your address

After encryption you land on the dashboard with your new Dogecoin address, which starts with the letter D. Double-check the first and last characters whenever you share it.

Send a small test amount first — for example from an exchange withdrawal. Once it confirms on the blockchain, you know the address is yours and everything works. Only then move a larger balance.
