How to Receive Dogecoin: Addresses, QR Codes and Checks
Receiving DOGE is simple, but a few habits make it bulletproof: sharing the right address, using QR codes correctly and watching for address-swapping malware.
Sharing your address
A Dogecoin address is a 34-character string starting with D. It is public by design — sharing it lets people pay you, and reveals nothing that could let them spend.
Use the copy button or the QR code on your dashboard instead of retyping. One mistyped character creates a valid-looking but wrong address, and the blockchain will not warn you.
Beware clipboard hijacking
A known class of malware watches the clipboard and silently replaces copied crypto addresses with the attacker’s. The paste looks normal because you never re-read it.
The defense takes two seconds: after pasting, compare the first five and last five characters with the source. Make it a habit for every payment, incoming or outgoing.
Confirming the payment arrived
An incoming transaction appears in your history within a minute as unconfirmed, then gains confirmations with each new block. For meaningful amounts, wait for a few confirmations before considering it final.
You can always verify independently by pasting the txid into any Dogecoin block explorer — the blockchain is the source of truth, not any single app.
